This might be a useful tool

My friend Paul just let me know about a little tool called Hyperlink Maker When you are writing a comment on someone’s blog or you want to put a link into one of your squidoo lenses it’s very easy to miss a ” or write htpp instead of http or some other little mistake that makes the link not work. It seems Paul had a few emails from people who had made these mistake and so he had a small program made just to avoid these kinds of errors.

It’s free so go take a look at the video demo and download the tool if you think it could be useful.

  • I should qualify the title by saying - seems to have failed for me.  When I first learn’t about Blogrush I thought it sounded like a great idea, a simple widget that would display headlines from other blogs whilst displaying yours on their blogs.   What a great way to expose your blog to a wider audience I thought.

Well it might be a great idea, but its not working for me.   My blog was approved and everything was great, then I changed my domain and now Blogrush is broken for me.   My repeated emails to support have gone unanswered so now it looks like I’m going to have to pull the code and forget about Blogrush.

Shame as it did seem to be quite good.

  • Auto Social Poster

Today I thought I’d tell you a little about a tool I’ve been using called Auto Social Poster, I’ve mentioned it before but never gone into much detail.

In a nutshell what Auto Social Poster (ASP) is a handy tool for automatically posting your wordpress posts to Social Bookmarking sites.   Note that I said your Wordpress posts, ASP is a plugin for Wordpress so only works if you are using Wordpress to run your blog.

Once you have installed the plugin you can add multiple accounts at each of the many built-in social bookmarking sites.  The plugin comes pre-configured for most social bookmarking sites and the support is very good with regular updates when new sites appear or old ones change their login requirements.   Being able to add multiple logins is particularly handy.

You an configure the plugin to bookmark to all your accounts or to a random number of sites so your bookmarks are different across the various sites you bookmark at.   You can also set it up to add random tags, which allows you to almost completely automate your blog (if you are using an auto content posting sytem that is).

Finally, the plugin will, if you tell it, send you an email status report after it finishes posting showing which bookmarking sites it posted to and the result.

Auto Social Poster is an excellent plugin if you are running a Wordpress blog and want to promote your articles through the many Social Bookmarking Sites.

It definitely gets the Idiot’s thumbs up!

  • My Social Bookmarking Site

http://www.findinfosites.com/ is my new social bookmarking site, I’ve set it up with Scuttle Plus and when I have time I’ll post a review, for now I’m just announcing it.

I’m hoping that this helps with getting my sites indexed quicker and perhaps for longer.

  • A few additions behind the scenes

I’ve made a few small additions behind the scenes here at The Adsense Idiot. I have added a plugn called Comment Relish which is very cool as it will send a custom email to a visitor thanking them for their comment. The really great thing is it only send an email the first time they comment, so its kind of a Thanks for Joining In the discussions. If you havent already commented here then try it out.

The other plugin I’ve added today is Better Comment Manager which makes managing comments easier - much easier frankly.

Finally I’ve added a plugin called Subscribe to Comments which lets you receive an email when someone replies to a comment you’ve left - great for turning comments into more of a discussion.

All part of my ongoing effort to make this blog better.

  • I’m constantly searching for cool new website and tools, especially ones that I can utilise to help promote my own sites and this morning I’ve found a rather neat new site called 30 Day Tags which as the name suggests lets you tag a website for 30 days.

I’m not going to go into what Tags are as I’m sure we all know by now and if you don’t you’ll immediately get the idea when you visit their site. The important things, as far as I am concerned are that the service is completely free and very easy to use, your tags last for 30 days but they do send you an email a few days before they will expire asking you if you’d like to renew them for another 30 days which is nice of them :-)

I’ve only just found this tool so I can’t really say whether it will help much with getting your site either traffic or indexing, but it certainly won’t hurt to try it out - the very least you can do is visit them and see for yourself.

  • Gosh these are useful

I spend a good part of my day surfing the net looking for the cool links and stuff and occasionally I actually find something (to me at least and hopefully to you too) really useful.

This morning I found an interesting blog called ilovejackdaniels.com written by a chap called Dave Child. Dave has put together a whole list of Cheat Sheets, each one prints out onto a single sheet and makes looking up that tag or function you’ve forgotten a breeze. He’s got chaet sheets for HTML, MySQL, PHP, CSS, Regex and a bunch more. Cheers Dave !!

    You can find them here.

  • Getting your sites indexed

The holy grail of internet marketing has got to be getting your sites indexed, its pointless building sites if the search engines are not going to index them.  So how do promote your sites to maximise your chances of being indexed ?

Well there are lots of ways you can do it, blog and ping was one of the much talked about methods a while back and whilst it does still work to a limited degree it seems that the search engines are not as keen on pinged links these days.

Another much touted method is social networking or bookmarking, this seems to be quite popular at the moment, you’ll have seen talk about Tag & Ping, but I suspect thats going to go the same way as Blog & Ping did…. ie down….

What the search engines like are one way incoming links from sites with good PR and relevency.  So how do you find sites with good PR and how do you get relevent one way links from them ?

Well I’ve just started using a great new tool called  Blogger PageRank Wizard what this tool does is searches for Blogger Blogs with whatever minimum page rank you specify so that you can visit them and leave relevent on topic comments.  Your comment can have a link back to one of your own sites and bingo you’ve got an incoming link from a site with good PR.  If you didnt click the link then Here it is again

I recommend you try it out, since I started using it my spider activity is up 25% and as a result my pages are being index faster that ever before.
