Time is a funny old thing, when I’m at work it seems to crawl along really slowly, then when I get home - wham! it seems to disappear before I’ve even blinked.   My last post was over a week ago, 8 days without posting is dreadful, but I don’t really have any excuses.  Actually I do but they are merely excuses.

Nothing I can do about it though, the time is gone so all that remains is to get back to the task at hand. 

On that note I’ve been doing a bit of work on the backend of the site.  You may have noticed that the BlogRush widget isnt displaying, its been broken basically since I switched the blog from adsenseidiot.com to theadsenseidiot.com   I’ve checked the code and its correct so I’m guessing its a problem on their end.  So I’m about to send them a support email.  I’ll report back when I have some news.

Not too long ago I was thinking to myself just how smoothly things were going, but then in typical fashion things slowly started to go as we say in the UK, pear shaped.   Its really pretty normal for my life to seem to be about to improve, only to then go back into decline.  

However, I’m pleased to report that I’m actually slowly managing to get on top of the problems I’ve been having with this site lately.  

Take today for example.   I’ve just managed to successfully re-enable my feedburner setup so after a week or so with no RSS feed people can once again subscribe to get updates from this blog.   I’d really appreciate it if you’d subscribe, its really good motivation for me to know that at least some people are reading what I write.

Now onto an idea I’m working on……  At work today I completed a pretty complex online tutorial system, I created it to teach some of the company’s employees in the US how to use the online order processing system I built, without me having to either go to the US and show them in person or write out lengthy text based instructions.  Its comprised of 17 individual html pages that perfectly mimic the real order process system.   It took me about 3 days (with lots of breaks of course) to finish.    Whilst I was doing it I thought why don’t I create something similar that I can either sell or perhaps give away ?

I’ve got a pretty good idea what it will be, the only problem is its a huge undertaking and I’m not entirely sure its going to be worth doing.   Will people want it ?   I guess I need to think it through a bit more, figure out exactly how much work it will be and then decide if I want to invest that time in this project or put it into something else.

Yesterday you will have read that I’d actually begun building a site and that I just needed to tweak the template I’d created before the site would be more or less ready to go.  

Well last night I did just that - I edited the CSS file and the HTML so that the template was just how I wanted it, then I edited the colours used for the adsense ads so they would blend nicely with the page.  So now my template is just right.

Today’s task is to organise some custom content for the site, although it looks like today is going to be busy at work so I might need to wait until I’m back home this evening before I can really work on that.

Incidentally, you may have noticed there is a new category - The Idiot’s Progress - I figured I break these daily(ish) updates into their own category to make the site neater, I’ve been saying I wanted to add new categories for a while but hadnt done it yet.  So thats another bit of momentum I’m maintaining ;-)
